Watermelon Banzai "Reformation" is an aptly titled album given the history of Ethereal Delusion's prior releases within the synthwave genre; they may use synthesizers but they ride their own wave by not adhering to a label. This release therefore further reinvents not only themselves but also their own perception of what the genre could (or maybe even should) be; an experimental utopia. Which is exactly why it deserves your time and attention as a rarity that's trying to make waves by going into a bold direction. Favorite track: Pixel Shards.

about

Reformation examines our increased dependence and integration of technology in our daily lives. For many people, technology is integral to how they function throughout common and every day activities and how they essentially determine their "humanness." For some, technology has enhanced and accelerated a particular type of advancement, yet it has also changed us in ways that are obvious and in other ways that are perhaps hidden from view. We seem to have adapted to what technology brings into our lives, but have we? Or have we become something altogether different as a species and is it possible that we have become un-human?
This project is a conscious effort to examine how I use technology in my life. I strive to only use things that enhance my productivity and that can be used as a tool, so that I stay (seemingly?) in control of the technologies I use and thus, not let the technology control or (use) me.
